The Birkenhead Multi-Residential Proposal is set within a rapidly densifying site in the growing neighbourhood of Table View, Cape Town. The development brings together a diversity of residential apartments, each carefully oriented to the north-facing sun. The design creates surprising geometries and well-crafted spaces that offer both utility and intimacy, ensuring residents enjoy moments of privacy as well as comfort. At four levels, the building includes a sunken parking level, deep-set windows, and generously lit interiors that enhance the quality of living. The proposal introduces a sense of modern freshness to the area, balancing functionality with architectural character. Drawing inspiration from the art deco traditions of the Cape Peninsula, both old and new, the design reinterprets seaside living for a contemporary context. Birkenhead stands as an addition that is sensitive to its surroundings while also contributing a bold new presence to the evolving fabric of Table View.
